Hwapo (2014)

Hwapo was originally commissioned by Artspace Don Quixote as part of the "Contemporary non-Music" project in 2011 and extended into a video work of its own. This video of a 4-hour-performance shot at Hwapo Tideland, Suncheon, Jeollanam Province, is not only a documentation of the event but also a record of the extremely private landscape of ever-changing mother nature, confronted by the two helpless artists, visual artist Byounglae Park and noise musician Joonyong Choi, and expressed through visual and aural media.
"화포異景(2014)"는 원래 예술공간 돈키호테가 2011년부터 기획해 왔던 동시대 비음악(Contemporary non-Music) 프로젝트 '노이즈 가든 프로젝트' 가 비디오 영상으로 확장된 작품이다.
전라남도 순천만의 화포갯벌을 배경으로 시각예술가 박병래와 노이즈 음악가인 최준용이 만나 실행했던 4시간의 퍼포먼스를 기록한 이 영상은 단지 사건의 기록을 위한 다큐멘터리 영상이라기 보다는 무방비 상태의 두 아티스트가 대면한 대자연의 변화들을 각자의 시각과 표현으로 기록한 지극히 사적인 풍경의 기록이라고 할 수 있겠다.
